About the event
Learn how to care for your soil and enhance soil fertility using local materials! In this class, permaculture educator Marisha Auerbach, will guide you through a basic understanding of soil and how to respond to the limiting factors on your site to adapt your soil for success in the garden. The morning session will focus on understanding soil. We will cover some simple soil tests that you can do at home to learn about your current conditions, what to expect, and how to respond to the results.
In the afternoon, we will discuss and try out strategies for how to use common locally available biological resources to adapt your soil for success in the garden. Strategies will include composting, vermicompost (worm composting), sheet mulching, hugelkultur, and more.
Participants can register for the full class or simply the morning or afternoon session.
