About the event
February is an ideal time to prune your fruit trees for health, structure, and production. Pruning fruit trees is just one piece of a holistic way to care for your fruit trees throughout their lives. Join Dana Hoaglund, arborist, and Marisha Auerbach for a workshop dedicated to understanding the growth and maintenance of healthy fruit trees in your landscape. The morning session will provide an understanding of the botany of fruiting plants, an overview of pruning, and the compartmentalization and wound closure on your trees. In the afternoon, we will apply what we have learned through visiting and practicing on fruit trees of various ages on site. We will discuss pests and disease, a pattern language for fruit trees, and tree care throughout the year. Join us to gain confidence in pruning through understanding more about fruiting plants, observation, and hands-on experience.
