"We first came up with the idea of doing Artrageous Storytellers Summer Camp while volunteering with Reeves Middle School’s Alki Program. We were facilitating a Focus Group called Self-portraits and Body Maps. Our plan was to expand the idea of a “self-portrait” into a process-oriented, artistic journey that allowed the students to think about their lives and their selves without thinking much at all. Artrageous Storytellers Camp is a continuation of that journey. At the camp we will use puppetry, poetry, dance, shadow-play, self-portrait, and sculpture to breath life into our stories about self, community and the world."

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Currently, we are collecting art supplies from the community. We need acrylics, watercolor, paper, glue, tape, clay tools, charcoal, pastels, paintbrushes,  or anything else you might have lying around! If you have  donations you would like to make you'd be helping us to supplement the cost of camp for low income folks.  Thanks a lot! Give us a call anytime!

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
