PATTERNS IN NATURE

ART IN THE GARDEN 2018

July 8-12
August 19-23

A week-long Summer Art Camp for Ages 6 and Up

Limited to just 6 campers per session

Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Themes include Amazing Bugs, Beetles and Butterflies; Birds, Flowers and Natural Wonders; Forests, Parks and Lakes.

Artistic endeavors this summer will include plaster bandage creature mask making, theatre fun making plays from original stories, crafting original songs and poetry, creating a variety of clay works, weavings with natural objects, rubber stamp carvings, various explorations into classic artistic methods such as Pointillism as seen in the works of Seurat, still life creations using bold lines as in the works of Rouault, whimsy, motion and colors ala Van Gogh and Chagall, Georgia O'Keefe's design mastery, and making small totems and "cedar" boxes inspired by NW Native American artists.

Lest this sound too taxing, fear not...what we do can also be shaped by the kids' interests, too, so feel free to suggest these. We will have fun and as always, your children will go home with a portfolio of their work. Mediums will include acrylic paint, watercolor, oil and chalk pastel, fibers, cardboard, markers, pencils, and colored paper.

Camps are limited to 6 children due to the size of the studio. Days begin at 9:30 and end at 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Holly Gwinn Graham will conduct this camp, which includes short drives to places of beauty and interest around the neighborhood and nearby Olympia.

Artists will end the week with a portfolio of works, an exhibition, a performance for parents and friends, and a new sense of ‘seeing’ with their own artist’s eyes.

Cost is $225 which includes materials. Siblings are welcome, and if a child is 5 but ready for camp, it's possible. There is a scholarship opportunity available if needed.

Campers bring their own snacks and lunches.
